Founder, Director, and Concepts 4 Tutor
Nichole Clayman
Nichole founded TLC in 2014. She has been homeschooling her three children for thirteen years and graduated her first student in 2023 (now a college sophomore teaching internationally)! Nichole continues to direct our group of amazing families with the help of an incredibly talented crew of other homeschool parents. She also tutors our Concepts 4 class and organizes our field trips. In her spare time, she can be found teaching Krav Maga to women, organizing homes, playing board games with her family, camping, exploring, or searching for her tiny home dream house!

Administrative Assistant & Financial Manager
Nika Beville
Nika lovingly serves in many capacities at TLC. In addition to admin assistance and financial management, Nika homeschools her three boys. In her spare time, Nika can be found teaching ESL, working alongside her husband in ministry, and running her own bookkeeping business.

Core Memory Work Tutor
Jamila Smith
Jamila co-leads our Core memory work every week. She is a dedicated childcare provider and former NYC DOE employee with a heart for helping children grow, learn, and thrive. Whether she's homeschooling her two youngest children or teaching Sunday School at her church, Jamila is all about connection, encouragement, and kindness. Outside of work, you can usually find her enjoying quality time with her family - her favorite people in the world!

Core Art and Artist Series Tutor
Dayi Perez
Dayi creatively tutors our youngest students in art composition and artist studies. When she is not also homeschooling her two children, she can be found trying new recipes and thrift shopping.

Core Presentation Tutor - Group 1
Ms. Laura
Ms. Laura facilitates our Core presentation time each week, assisting a small group of our youngest students in learning the art of rhetoric and public speaking skills. She has been homeschooling her son for a few years now. In her spare time, you can find Laura color-coding her Excel sheets, investing in her friends and family, acting and doing voiceovers, and watching every Aaron Judge game.

Core Presentations Tutor - Group 3
Deborah Perry
Deborah facilitates our Core presentation time each week, assisting a small group of our youngest students in learning the art of rhetoric and public speaking skills. She is a retired grandmother, sharing homeschooling her granddaughter with her daughter - it's a family affair! She enjoys being a part of the joyful, loving environment that TLC provides. In her free time, Deborah stays busy with a weekly writing workshop, a book club she's been in for 20 years, various online exercise classes, regular meditation, and lunches with her retired friends.

Assistant Director and Connect Tutor
Karen Perez
Karen has been Nichole's lifeline and support from the very beginning. She has been homeschooling her seven children for thirteen years and graduated her first student in 2023 (now in college and a dental assistant)! Even after relocating from the Bronx to North Carolina during the pandemic, Karen still faithfully serves as TLC's Connect tutor via Zoom. In her spare time, she can be found raising chickens, loving on her children, husband, neighbors, and friends, laughing hysterically, and renovating a house on a budget.

Concepts 1 Tutor
Breanne Doyle
Breanne enthusiastically tutors our middle school Concepts class. She has been homeschooling her three children for eleven years, some of which was abroad. When not facilitating rhetorical discussions, Breanne can be found reading, reading, and reading...oh, and learning Arabic and traveling the world.

Core Science Tutor
Marysol Ortiz
Marysol leads our youngest students in weekly science lessons and hands-on experiments. She has been homeschooling her two children for six years. In her spare time, you can find Marysol exploring the expanse of the city on bike, working in the fashion world, sewing, and crocheting.

Core Tin Whistle, Music, and Composers Tutor
Cristal Vargas
Cristal leads our Core students each week in basic music theory, tin whistle, and a composer study in the spring semester. She is a curious, multitasking homeschool parent of five, who is passionate about researching and advocating for topics close to her heart, such as lactation support, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental disorders.

Core Presentations Tutor - Group 2
Yahve Ruiz
Yahve facilitates our Core presentation time each week, assisting a small group of our youngest students in learning the art of rhetoric and public speaking skills. She has been homeschooling her son for a few years now. In her spare time, you can find Yahve hosting a plethora of visitors in her AirB&B, investing in her friends and family, commuting her son to his many activities, and swimming in waterfalls.

Host
Ramny Perez
Pastor Ramny graciously provides TLC a home base for our community meetings. He and his wife, Dayi, homeschool their two children. When he is not also magically transforming the church space to materialize Nichole's elaborate ideas, he can be found pastoring the church, reading, playing and watching sports, and spending time with his family.
