TLC is community. Through our weekly classroom gatherings, study halls, moms night outs, & field trips, TLC offers homeschool families a safe, joyful place to find a support network of similarly-minded parents & students with whom they can share joys, struggles, ideas, & resources. Our community promotes healthy friendships & teamwork through teaching & modeling kindness, sharing, encouragement, & leadership. Homeschooling can be lonely, so TLC seeks to walk alongside families on their journeys.
TLC has a classical approach to education at its core. We have chosen a classical curriculum which includes weekly class sessions in Latin, English Grammar, Math, History, Geography, Science, Debate/Logic, Composition, Rhetoric, & Literature. Through weekly presentations, students learn the art of public speaking at a young age. Using the scientific method, students also perform weekly science experiments. Art technique, artist studies, tin whistle, orchestra, & composer studies are also included in this well-rounded curriculum.
TLC is a cost-effective way to secure a classical education with a loving community in a city of financial monopolies. TLC is free and open to the public, though donations are encouraged to cover the cost of general supplies as well as supplies for science experiments, dissections, and art projects. We try to secure free or discounted field trip reservations to keep the cost low. TLC is immensely grateful to Fordham Community Church for the use of their space and storage and to all TLC teachers who volunteer their time.
